For Parents Like You

Every day is harder than it has to be

  • They don't see the value in effort

Kids expect rewards without earning them. They don't connect actions to outcomes, and teaching that feels impossible without constant reminding.

  • Every day is a negotiation

Chores, homework, bedtime - you repeat yourself constantly and nothing sticks. Structure feels impossible.

  • Screen time is a daily battle

You want to set limits but every boundary turns into a fight. There's no system, just conflict.

Meet Pumpkin

A better way to raise capable kids

Pumpkin is the Family Operating System that teaches children ages 4–13+ about responsibility and life skills through what families already do: chores, habits, goals, and daily routines. No bank account. No debit card. Just the things your family already does, turned into something that sticks.

The Pumpkin Effect

Like the butterfly effect, it starts with something small. One chore teaches responsibility. Responsibility builds into habits. Habits compound into capability. One family changes trajectory, then another, then another.

They Earn It, They Own It

Kids complete tasks and earn rewards they actually care about: screen time, points, treats, or allowance. They set goals, track progress, and feel what it means to work toward something real.

    • Flexible rewards: screen time, points, treats, or money - your choice

    Structure That Sticks

Set up recurring chores once. Kids see what's expected. Approve completions and watch consistency build, tracked with streaks and stats that show real progress over time.

    Screen Time They Earn

Instead of arbitrary limits, kids earn screen time like a currency. Daily minutes expire. Banked time grows. They learn to budget the thing they care about most.

    • Earn minutes through completed chores
    • Daily allowances can expire or be banked
    • Bank time for weekends, teaching delayed gratification

The Story

Built by a parent who gets it

My nine-year-old daughter was navigating two homes, and I was doing my best to provide support and structure, but most days were chaotic, not fun. I needed a tool to help her feel she was contributing to our home while also learning money skills and responsibility. I tried “this” app, paid for “that” tool, but nothing worked for us both.

So, I built it. I gamified it. I re-built it. I tested it with friends' families and changed it again.

Each time it became more and more useful, turning from a simple chore app into something that helps me operate my family. Sitting at my desk in Richmond, Virginia, I thought about other families: the busy working parents who want more but don't have the time, the divorced parents who still want the best for their children and could use the help, and the families who want to build real habits and money skills with their kids but need something they can make their own - their rules, their language, their way.

Pumpkin Kids Wallet, or simply, Pumpkin, isn't just a chores app - it's my parenting sidekick, my daughter's personal mission control and her first taste of independence, and what I hope will become a useful addition to your family's operating system to make your family's everyday a little easier and a lot more intentional.

Questions

Frequently asked

Pumpkin is designed for families with children ages 4–13+. The app automatically adapts its interface, language, and complexity based on each child's age group, from big-icon simplicity for 4-year-olds to real financial tracking for teens.

No. Pumpkin is a family management and financial literacy tool. While kids earn virtual currencies and track real money goals, Pumpkin doesn't hold funds or process real transactions. Parents remain in full control of any real money involved.

At launch, screen time works as a "soft balance", meaning you set daily allocations, kids earn bonus minutes through chores, and the family uses Pumpkin as the source of truth. OS-level integration with parental controls is on our roadmap.

Those apps require a bank account and a debit card, immediately excluding the families who need financial literacy most. Pumpkin works without cash or a bank account. Kids earn rewards they care about (screen time, points, treats) through chores and daily routines. Plus, Pumpkin adapts its entire interface to each child's age, supports custody-week scheduling for two-home families, and turns screen time into a currency kids learn to earn and budget.

Yes, this is core to how Pumpkin was built. Custody-week scheduling means chores, rewards, and routines follow the child across two homes. Both parents see progress. Financial literacy doesn't take custody weeks off.

No ads. No data selling. No dark patterns. Pumpkin is COPPA-compliant with 7 verification steps, exceeding the federal minimum. We use row-level security on all data and are building with children's privacy as a first principle.

We're planning to launch at $4.99/month or $49.99/year, less than a cup of coffee a month. Waitlist members get early access and founding member pricing. Lock it in now.
